Monsoon tracker: IMD warns of heavy rain in Bihar, Odisha, Sikkim, Bengal; orange warning issued – full forecast here | Today’s news

Monsoon Update: Bihar, Odisha, Sikkim, parts of West Bengal, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh are on orange alert today due to the possibility of heavy rains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. During the monsoon update, the meteorological agency said that the conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon to some other parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next three days.

In its latest press release, the IMD warned of “heavy to very heavy rainfall” along the west coast, over northeast India and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the week. “Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 27-29 and over Assam and Meghalaya on 28 June 2026,” the report said. Besides, heavy downpour is likely in Bihar till June 30 and Odisha from June 28 to July 1.

The IMD has predicted heavy showers in northwest India for the next few days

The weather advisory indicated the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall likely in Himachal Pradesh between 30 June and 1 July and in Uttarakhand from 29 June to 1 July.

Central India braces for more rainfall

Moving on to the weather forecast for central India, the IMD said: “Isolated heavy rainfall likely over… Vidarbha during June 27-28; Chhattisgarh during June 27-28.”

Weather Forecast for Northeast India

The weather forecast for North East India said: “Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Arunachal Pradesh on June 26 and during June 30 to July 1; Assam & Meghalaya on June 26 and June 28; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during June 26. Assam & Meghalaya on June 27 and during June 29 to July 1.”

IMD predicts Monsoon showers over West India

In its latest bulletin, the Meteorological Agency said: “Isolated heavy rains likely over Konkan and Goa during June 26-July 1; Madhya Maharashtra during June 26-29.”

Forecast for South Peninsular India

Forecasting very heavy rainfall over Kerala on June 29, coastal Karnataka from June 29 to July 1 and south interior Karnataka between June 29 and 30, the Met Department said: “Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during June 27-30; Kerala and Mahe on June 28 during June 27; Lakshadweep during June 28-29.” June during June 25 – June 28;

Heat wave and maximum temperature forecast

Northwest India is expected to see a 2-3°C peak in maximum temperature till June 28, followed by a drop of 3-5°C. Weather conditions in Central India suggest a 2-4°C rise in mercury till Sunday. Meanwhile, heat waves are likely over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand today. “Heat waves are very likely in isolated pockets over Jharkhand on June 26; East Uttar Pradesh during June 26-28 with severe heat waves in isolated pockets during June 26-27,” the IMD said.

Today’s weather in Delhi

Residents of Delhi can expect partly clear skies today with very light to light rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds. “The maximum and minimum temperatures in the capital are likely to be in the range of 39°C to 41°C and 25°C to 27°C respectively.
