Police rule out suicide in death of Nalgonda family, interrogate relatives
Three days after four members of a family were found dead in their house in a Telangana colony under Nalgonda One Town police station limits, investigators have ruled out suicide and are probing the case as a suspected murder.
The deceased were identified as Mohammed Sultan, his wife Haseena and two other family members. Their bodies were discovered in a decomposed state after residents alerted the police to a foul smell coming from the house.
A senior police official said seven special teams have been formed to investigate the deaths and several relatives are currently being questioned.
“We have several suspects because the family is big. Teams are interrogating them all at the moment,” the official said.
Police had previously said that all angles were being investigated pending forensic and post-mortem findings to determine the cause of death.
According to preliminary investigations, the deaths may have occurred almost four days before the bodies were discovered.
With suicide now ruled out, investigators are focusing on possible motives and examining the family’s personal, financial and social ties. Further investigation is underway.
