Sonam Wangchuk announces hunger strike from Sunday amid CJP protest at Jantar Mantar | Today’s news

Activist Sonam Wangchuk announced on June 25 that she will go on an indefinite hunger strike from June 28 at Jantar Mantar if the government does not respond to the demands related to the NEET paper leak allegations.

In a video message posted on X, Wangchuk said he would wait till June 27 for a response from the government and go on hunger strike the next day if no satisfactory action was taken on the NEET paper leak issue raised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

Referring to his recent visit to Geneva, Wangchuk said he had previously informed his supporters that he would review the status of their demands upon his return from Switzerland.

He said the two key issues he raised were responsibility in education and responsibility for matters related to Ladakh’s environment, culture and the welfare of its people.

Wangchuk argued that citizens should have a voice in decisions affecting education, while the people of Ladakh should be heard on issues related to environmental protection and the preservation of their cultural heritage. He urged the government to take responsibility and address the concerns raised on both fronts.

“If I do not receive an answer to any of these issues by Saturday, I will go on hunger strike with all of you,” Wangchuk said in a video message.

Rahul Gandhi punches Pradhan

On June 25, Congress President Rahul Gandhi attacked Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for his “terrorist” remark directed at protesting students, saying he must immediately apologize to millions of youth in this country and resign for his “failure”.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said that calling anyone who questions the government a “traitor” is the BJP’s policy.

In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said, “Drunken by the arrogance of power, the Modi government has reached a point where the education minister is labeling students demanding their rights, fair exams and a secure future as ‘terrorists’.

If I don’t get an answer to any of these questions by Saturday, I will be on hunger strike with all of you.

“Just think: the person whose failures led to so many paper leaks, under whose watch 20 students lost their lives and who cast the future of millions of youth into darkness, today calls aggrieved students and those who raise their voice against them as ‘terrorists’,” said the former Congress chief.
