Political leaders emphasized the importance of charity in ensuring equitable distribution of wealth across society during the inauguration of the V. Siddarami Reddy Government Junior College building in Chinnagottigallu mandal of Tirupati district on Wednesday.

Former Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, who hails from the neighbourhood, lauded the benevolence of the family members of former Zilla Parishad Chairman V Siddarami Reddy for addressing the rural roads, water supply and educational needs of the backward region.

Tirupati Anagani district in-charge minister Satya Prasad explained that the government is committed to popularizing charity among the rich for the benefit of their immediate society. Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao recalled that family charities normally run educational institutions themselves, however the Siddarami Reddy family gave their land and property to the government.

Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani recounted how the family gave away their land for charitable purposes such as ISKCON’s massive mid-day meal kitchen, retirement homes and educational institutions. Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar also urged the rich to emulate the Siddarami Reddy family in spreading kindness by distributing wealth to the needy.

Piler MLA Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy and AP Greening and Beautification Corporation Chairman M. Sugunamma were present.
