The third edition of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Sailing Regatta 2026 concluded at the Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) and Commodore of the EME Sailing Association (EMESA), presided over the closing ceremony.
Addressing the participants and guests, Lt Gen Varshney said the regatta was conceived to revitalize and strengthen yachting as a competitive sport within the Corps of EME and create a broad pool of skilled sailors capable of competing at national, Asian and Olympic levels. He lauded the enthusiastic participation of personnel from various ranks, especially the Agniveers, noting that many showed remarkable ability to master the sport in just two to three weeks.
“The regatta would serve as a stepping stone for sailors who want to participate in major events like ILCA Open Sailing Competition and Hyderabad Sailing Week,” he added.
In the ILCA-6 category, Agniveer Patil Anuraj secured the first position, Sepoy Mahesh finished second and Agniveer Patil Siddhesh took the third position. In the ILCA-7 category, Agniveer Harsh Tiwari became the winner, Lt. Col. Mayank Srivastav finished second and Major Lanka Kiran secured the third position. Southern Command won the overall championship trophy.
