Hundreds of people attend Yoga Day classes in Dharwad

International Yoga Day was held in Dharwad on Sunday with the theme Yoga for Healthy Ageing.

Hundreds of people, young and old, participated in yoga classes organized at various places in Dharwad.

Students, government officials and members of various voluntary organizations participated in the Yoga Day celebrations organized by the district administration and AYUSH department at RN Shetty Stadium early in the morning.

Inaugurating the event, Deputy Commissioner R. Snehal said that yoga helps people to de-stress and lead a happy life with good health.

“This year, Yoga Day is celebrated with the theme Yoga for Healthy Old Age and there is no age limit for practicing yoga to lead a healthy old life,” she said.

AYUSH department officials and members of Brahma Kumari Ishwareeya Vishwavidyalaya and others participated in the program and performed yoga.

Yoga trainer Jagadish Malagi helped the participants to perform some asanas. Students and teachers performed yoga in educational institutions run by KE Board, JSS, LEA, Base Mission and SDME Society and KLE Society among others.

Kayakalpa Yoga Center in Kelgeri of Dharwad organized a yoga session for its members.
