Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid out an ambitious plan for Telangana’s long-term economic transformation as he declared that the state is poised to become one of India’s most developed regions and a hub for global growth by 2047, urging, “Telangana’s growth is unstoppable. Come join the rise.”
Addressing the inaugural session of the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025 held at Bharat Future City on Monday (December 8, 2025), the Chief Minister said the state draws inspiration from India’s freedom struggle, its constitution and the decades-long statehood movement.
Mr. Reddy said that just as India’s founding fathers designed a new destiny for the nation, Telangana is now engaged in a similar exercise inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. by BR Ambedkar.
Referring to the long-running struggle for a separate Telangana, he credited the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) leadership of Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh for deciding on statehood in 2014. “Now, after ten years, we are trying not only to become the most developed state in India, but also to compete to be one of the best in the world,” he said.
Outlining the state’s economic ambitions, he said Telangana aims to become a 1 trillion economy by 2034 and a 3 trillion economy by 2047. Although the state accounts for 2.9% of India’s population, it currently contributes around 5% to the national GDP. “By 2047, I want Telangana to contribute 10% of India’s GDP,” the Chief Minister said.
Citing the example of China’s Guangdong province, he said Telangana aims to replicate its rapid industrialization and investment-led growth through a three-zone economic model. The Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) focuses on high-end services, the Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE) focuses on manufacturing and related sectors, and the Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE) focuses on promoting agricultural productivity and rural development.
Telangana wants to take inspiration from global leaders like China, Japan, Germany, South Korea and Singapore and has invited them to collaborate on the state’s growth path.
Mr Reddy said Telangana’s blueprint for 2047 – which coincides with India’s centenary year of independence – is a reflection of a consultative process including views of citizens, officials, the central government, the Indian School of Business and NITI Aayog. Everyone helped shape this vision,” he said.
He said the large attendance of industry leaders, diplomats, policy experts and global businesses at the summit reinforced his belief that the rise of Telangana was imminent. “I see you as partners and stakeholders in this journey. With your support, we can achieve all our goals,” he said.
