
Girls have secured more admissions than boys in the recently concluded MBBS admissions in government and private colleges affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Minister of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav said in a release.
After receiving the final admission report from the university authorities, Mr. Satya Kumar noted that girls have secured 60.72% admissions this year. Compared to 2023-24, when girls secured 57.06% admission, and 2024-25, when they secured 57.96%, the number of girls applying for the MBBS course increased by 3.66% this year, the minister said.
He noted that the numbers point to a change taking place in parents’ thinking about their daughters’ futures.
There were a total of 6,430 MBBS seats in the academic year 2025–26. Within the quota for convenors, there were 2,617 seats for girls and 1,638 for boys. 1,287 girls and 888 boys were admitted to the management quota, the release added.
