Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, turned heads on the internet after a video showed him approaching Joe Biden moments after his father was sworn in for a second term in January 2025.
The then 18-year-old shook the former president’s hand and made an inflammatory comment about Biden, according to some people, including Joe Rogan. “Trump’s son apparently went up to Biden at the inauguration and said, ‘Now it’s on,'” Rogan said on a March episode of his podcast.
However, nearly a year later, Barron’s older brother Eric clarified that he did not say anything harmful in that interaction.
Here’s what Barron Trump said to Joe Biden:
In a live interview on Nov. 14, Eric Trump told Megyn Kelly that Barron is a good guy, and all he said to Biden was something along the lines of happiness.
Discussing the controversial exchange between Barron and Joe Biden, which had people speculating about what was said, Eric said he had to call his younger brother to get the real story. “It was something so polite I almost didn’t understand,” joked Eric.
“Congratulations and good luck,” or something like that. Something very respectful,” Eric said, remembering what Barron had told him.
When asked if Barron had said anything derogatory to Biden, Eric said, “He just doesn’t have it in him. Like, he’s a nice guy.”
“He probably thinks so. He sure has it up here,” Eric said, pointing to his bedroom, “but he’s too polite to go up there and say it.”
Eric said that Barron is “a little shy” but is “smart as hell”.
Who is Barron Trump?
Barron Trump is the youngest of the children of US President Donald Trump and the only child of Donald Trump and Melania Trump.
The 19-year-old usually stays out of the public eye; however, he stands out at approximately 6-foot-7 whenever he appears alongside his father. His father also gave him credit for helping reach young voters through social media platforms and influencers like streamer Adin Ross.
Barron completed his first year at New York University’s Stern School of Business this spring. According to reports, he did not return to New York this fall and instead enrolled at another NYU campus.
