Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the Telangana government will develop Warangal on the lines of Hyderabad, with the Outer Ring Road (ORR), an underground sewer system and an airport.
“All the three projects will be started by March 31,” he said while addressing a public meeting at Narsampet of Warangal on Friday after launching several development projects worth ₹532.24 crore.
Mr. Reddy asked local leaders not to waste money in elections and elect only Sarpanchs who can work with ministers and MLAs, suggesting that candidates supported by the elected Congress will help speedy development.
The CM also asked the cadres to avoid factionalism in the villages as Sarpanch elections tend to create differences unnecessarily. “Work to win the hearts of the people,” he said, calling for clean elections rather than money-driven polls.
Urging people to take education seriously, the chief minister said, “Education itself can change lives,” and assured that the government would provide all facilities for the education of children.
Mr. Reddy also said that 60,000 government jobs were filled in the first year of his administration and notifications for another 40,000 jobs would be issued soon. He urged the unemployed youth to study diligently to secure civil service jobs. “The previous BRS government wanted people to do their traditional work, but the Congress wants people to study,” he said.
Recalling the previous administration’s warning that farmers would “hang themselves” if they grew paddy, Mr Reddy said his government was providing a bonus of ₹500.
He reiterated that the Congress government was providing free electricity to farmers and disbursed ₹9,000 crore in nine days under the leadership of Rythu Bharosa. About ₹20,000 crore in farm loans were waived off to 25.35 lakh farmers, an unprecedented achievement.
Mr. Reddy criticized the previous government for linking ration cards with people’s property. “In contrast, our government is issuing new ration cards and supplying fine rice to 3.1 million beneficiaries despite an annual burden of ₹13,000 crore.”
He recalled that during the Congress rule from 2004 to 2014, 25 million Indiramma houses were built. Now the government is building 3,500 Indiramma houses in each constituency with an outlay of ₹22,500 crore.
