Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy demanded an immediate withdrawal of the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), calling it “anti-people” and accusing the Congress government of trying to sell public land to cover up financial mismanagement.
At a press conference in New Delhi, Mr. Reddy alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, after failing to sell the Hyderabad Central University land and being arrested by the Supreme Court, has now “opened the door to a massive land scam under the guise of HILTP”.
The policy, he said, allows industrial estates on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to be converted into commercial real estate zones, pushing industries out of Hyderabad. “The GO office was introduced solely for the benefit of big real estate lobbies. Mr. Revanth Reddy’s actions clearly show that personal interests prevail over public welfare,” he charged.
Mr. Kishan Reddy criticized the government for taking a major decision without consulting elected representatives, industrial workers or industrial owners. “Has the government even considered the fate of workers dependent on these industries?” he asked.
He further argued that farmers are being discriminated against, pointing out that those in suburban conservation zones are not allowed to convert their land or even build houses, while industrialists are free to convert theirs. βIt is a betrayal of farmers and a denial of justice,β he said.
The BJP leader also raised concerns about civic infrastructure, air pollution and traffic congestion if more high-rises come up. “Has any impact study been done on traffic, drainage or infrastructure? Telangana strongly suspects extensive insider trading around these industrial zones,” he claimed.
Demanding an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister for his remarks on the Hindu faith, Mr. Reddy warned that the BRS had punished people for similar comments in the past and would do the same to the Congress.
