TDP senior leader and former minister Devineni Umamahaswara Rao has accused the YSRCP Congress Party (YSRCP) of trying to stall the development of Amaravati after it stalled the capital project during its tenure by spreading misinformation about the funds received by the coalition government and the ongoing works.
The YSRCP did not spare Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman from its mischievous campaign during the foundation-laying of regional offices of 15 banks in Amaravati, he said, warning her (YSRCP) of the consequences of playing with people’s sentiments.
Addressing the media at the TDP central office near Mangalagiri on Wednesday, Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said that former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should remember the fact that his government had to beat a hasty retreat to the proposed three capitals due to the 1,631-day agitation of Amaravati farmers during which his decision caused 2 sick guadvis as 2 farmers died. they have separate capitals for administrative, judicial and executive functions at Amaravati, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam.
This was intended to leave Amaravati for reasons that the YSRCP could not justify. Even after paying a heavy price for disrupting the development of Amaravati, the YSRCP continued to raise fears among farmers that they would give away land under the second phase of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) to put the NDA government in the dock for political gain.
About 16,000 laborers were toiling day and night in Amaravati, he said, expressing confidence that the construction of quarters for NGOs and MLAs and residential buildings for All India Services officers would be completed by the end of March 2026.
