Amid the leadership tussle in the Congress, Basavaraj Bommai, a former chief minister and MP, said on Monday (November 24) that the time has come for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to prove whether he still has the same strength he had during his previous tenure.
“It is a trial period for Mr. Siddaramaiah to either show his original strength and rebellious nature or compromise in the ongoing political developments. Whether he asserts his strength or opts for a compromise, we have to wait and see. It will be clear that he has lost his influence if he opts for a compromise now,” Mr. Bommai told reporters in Mysuru.
He was replying to questions on the reported tussle between Mr Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar over the leadership change.
The former chief minister added that Mr. Siddaramaiah’s administration in his current tenure is quite different from his first. “The administration has now collapsed and there is no development in the state apart from allegations of corruption and nepotism. I have said it before and I am repeating it now that there has been a marked change in his administration from his previous tenure as chief minister,” he said.
