Cristiano Ronaldo’s White House selfie with Elon Musk, Ginanni Infantino and several other high-profile guests has taken the internet by storm. However, some netizens still decided to “fix it”. Their twist? Replace Ronaldo’s photo with Lionel Messi’s, another soccer legend.
One netizen posted the edited photo with the caption “they fixed it,” while several others were seen gleefully asking “Who did it?”
Ronaldo has been the face of the Saudi Football League since joining Saudi club Al-Nassr at the end of 2022 in a reported $200 million-a-year deal.
Who’s up for a viral selfie?
In the original photo – which has more than 2 million likes and thousands of comments – FIFA president Gianni Infantino, OpenAI president Greg Brockman, Elon Musk, Howard Lutnick and his wife Allison, as well as Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodriguez – can be seen all smiles alongside Cristiano, who snapped a selfie.
Following the event, South African entrepreneur David Sacks shared a now-viral selfie on X with the caption, “Great night!”
Why did Trump host a White House dinner?
US President Donald Trump hosted a lavish dinner in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday (local time) – MBS’s first visit to the US in seven years, since the 2018 killing of Saudi critic Jamal Khashoggi sparked global outrage.
From tech moguls and top executives to sports stars, the event attracted big names from around the world.
From Tim Cook to Elon Musk – who attended?
Tech titans such as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Tesla boss Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook attended the dinner, along with golfer Bryson DeChambeau and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Guests were treated to lamb in a pistachio crust and finished with a delicate pear dessert layered in a rich soup mousse, reports said.
Trump thanks Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo sat at the front of the East Room, not far from where Trump and the crown prince delivered their address to the leaders of both countries.
In his speech, Donald Trump made it a point to acknowledge Ronald, whom he said he introduced to his teenage son.
Trump thanked the Portuguese star for attending the dinner. He said his youngest son Barron is a “big fan” of Ronaldo and the 19-year-old was impressed to meet the footballer.
“Barron got to meet him. And I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just because I introduced you,” Trump said.
