The anti-trafficking unit of the Cyberabad commissionerate nabbed five transgenders and 22 sex workers during night raids conducted as part of a week-long enforcement drive between November 8 and 14. In a separate operation, eight accused were arrested and four victims were rescued in three separate cases under the Immoral Trade (Prevention) Act, 1956.
She Teams carried out 140 sting operations during the same period and apprehended 87 individuals engaging in public indecency. In 82 cases, the police opened minor cases, the remaining offenders were provided with counseling. Meanwhile, She Teams also received 14 complaints from women through various modes of communication.
Family counseling and CDEW centers helped reunite 28 couples involved in marital disputes, with police citing this as a key part of their prevention strategy.
In addition to enforcement, both units conducted extensive awareness programs across Cyberabad, reaching more than 300 participants. The session covered human and child trafficking, teasing, social media harassment, child marriage, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyber bullying and cyber fraud.
The police also emphasized on the use of helplines such as Women’s Helpline 181, Children’s Helpline 1098, Number 100 and Cyber Crime Helpline 1930. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women and Child Safety Department, K. Srujana, said the combined drive reflects Cyberabad Police’s continued focus on security, early intervention and public awareness.
