Apple released Safari Technology Preview 208 for MacOS on Thursday. This is the latest update to the experimental version of Safari for MacOS, and for developers, the first thing to do is to introduce the upcoming web technology to be tested before the company’s web browser is launched publicly. According to Apple, Safari Technology Preview 208 also provides fixes for issues related to CSS, JavaScript, Rendering, Web API and WEBRTC, in addition to other system improvements.
Safari Technology Preview 208: What new features
Apple said in its release notes that the Safari Technology Preview 208 can be used for devices running Macos Sonoma and Macos Sequoia. When changing the color scheme, it can solve problems related to the appearance of the scroll bar. The update also corrects WEBRTC issues related to voice search to not re-propose camera or microphone permissions and ensures that the browser keeps them in the same original navigation instance.
Previous versions of Safari technology previews reportedly resulted in inappropriate processing of source maps. According to ChangElog, Apple’s latest browser update solves these issues. It also contains a fix to resolve the issue that causes the resize to not be applied to the generated content.
In addition to fixing bug fixes, Apple says Safari Technology Preview 208 also brings new features such as support for iterator assistants, implementation of relaxed LaneSelect SIMD instructions, unless F-Frame-url for content blockers, and Attr() after() fallback support.
It is worth noting that Safari technology preview does not require users to have an Apple Developer account. It can run with the standard Safari browser on devices running MACOS. 208 can be downloaded by navigating to the software update option System Preferences On Mac.
The latest update comes on the launch of Safari Technology Preview 207, released earlier this month, with bug fixes for loading, networking, web extensions and web inspectors, along with other system performance improvements.
