The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team beat South Africa by 52 runs in the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday to end India’s long wait for a global title. The champions are currently in Mumbai before flying to the nation’s capital to meet the Prime Minister. They will meet the prime minister on Wednesday.

After the team’s triumph, PM Modi shared a congratulatory message on X, describing the win as “magnificent” and praising the players for their determination and unity. “A spectacular victory for the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence. The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic victory will motivate future female champions for the sport,” Modi wrote.

Meanwhile, the celebrations are still being discussed at the administrative level. The BCCI is yet to finalize plans for a victory parade to mark the historic achievement. “Nothing like a victory parade is planned yet,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS from the Mumbai airport on Monday. “I’m off to Dubai to attend the ICC meetings. A few senior officials are heading there too, so once we get back we’ll plan accordingly.” The ICC meeting, which is scheduled for November 4-7 in Dubai, will occupy most of the board’s top brass this week. The BCCI is expected to decide on the ceremony and parade plans after their return.

BCCI has already announced a cash prize of ₹51 crore to honor the players and support staff. “Harmanpreet Kaur and her team have not only won the trophy, they have won the hearts of all Indians,” Saikia added, calling the triumph “a new dawn” for women’s cricket in India.
