The Vijayawada International Airport, Gannavaram organized a series of cultural, health and environmental programs to mark ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ and also the airport’s 12-year transformation from a local airport to an international air gateway.
Airport Director M. Lakshmi Kantha Reddy told the media at the airport on Monday that the programs were organized to get feedback from passengers and work to improve passenger-centric facilities.
While detailing the programs being carried out, he said that the arriving passengers were traditionally welcomed and 200 plant seedlings were distributed to the passengers to promote environmental sustainability. Live cultural programs were performed by children across the arrivals, departures and terminal gates. In addition, young travelers participated in drawing, painting and quiz competitions.
The airport hosted 30 local school children for an educational, first-hand tour of the airport ecosystem, he said. He added that a voluntary blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross, while basic health camps were organized for the departing travelers.
