Confusion over the last ball, goodbye

The ball rolled away, allowing the batsmen to complete the run before Gunasekara ran out to try for a second. With the scores tied, the umpires signaled a draw, but India A captain Tilak Varma immediately questioned whether the first run should have counted at all. The Indian players argued that Gunasekara had not offered a shot and therefore should not have been awarded the bye.The umpires held lengthy discussions before confirming the run and declaring the match a draw, setting up a Super Over.

Another controversy in the Super Over

The drama continued as Sri Lanka A batted first in the Super Over. With fading light becoming a major concern and no floodlights available for the tournament, every serve carried added tension.India’s players were frustrated with a wide shout on the second ball after the delivery appeared to hit the leg of the batsman. The disagreement continued throughout. The biggest moment came on the final ball when Arshad Khan bowled Aviska Fernando with a full toss on the waist. Fernando mistimed the shot and was caught, seemingly finishing over. However, the delivery was ruled inadmissible for height, prompting fresh protests from the Indian players. Some had already started to make their way back to the locker room before the officials called them back. The lack of ball allowed Sri Lanka A to finish with 18 runs in the Super Over, leaving India A with a target of 19.

The fading light adds tension

The match was played in increasingly poor lighting conditions, with players and officials repeatedly debating whether there was enough daylight left to complete the match.Tilak Varma was seen talking to both the umpires and his Sri Lankan counterpart as visibility concerns grew. As floodlights were not used for the tournament, the officials had to ensure that the conditions remained fair for both sides.

Sri Lanka A hold their nerve to win the Super Over

Sri Lanka A held their nerve in the Super Over to emerge victorious in a match full of twists and turns and controversy. After Sri Lanka A bowled out for 18 in the Super Over, India A sent in the explosive pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge to chase down 19 runs for victory. Given their striking, India A looked well placed to handle the chase. However, Sri Lanka A bowler Kughadas Mathulan performed brilliantly under pressure.Despite having power-hitters at the crease, India A could only manage 10 runs without losing a wicket in their six deliveries and fell eight runs short of the target.
