“The Dahi Nallah, a mountain stream located in the Gurez Valley of Bandipora District, currently flows directly into the Kishanganga River and joins the Neelam River in Pakistan without any use for hydropower generation. The plan is now to divert the water, which flows at the rate of 3-4 cubic meters per second, through a tunnel to the Kishanganga Hydroelectric Power Plant, which would also generate electricity at the Lower Whellar Project, which would then flow into the Jhelular Lake. Uri-1, Uri-1 Stage-2 and Uri-2 before it flows downstream to Pakistan,” a third person added.
