The man and the woman were killed on the spot and five injured when the multipurpose vehicle lost control and came across a road tree near the village of Hosa Tegur on the National Highway Pune-Bengaluru near Dharwad on Monday.
The deceased was identified as 65 -year -old Suresh Basavanneppa Tupad and 52 -year -old Mahantamma Basavanneppa Tupad, both inhabitants of Gadag.
Injured Geetha Siddaramesh Asundi, Jananani Suresh Tupad, Keerthi Suresh Tupad, Viraj SiddalingAppa Tuppad and Driver Chetan Jadhav are recovering.
The accident occurred when the group returned to Gadag after visiting Mahalaxmi in Kolhapur.
According to police, the driver reportedly retreated behind the wheel and lost control of the vehicle and eventually hit the road tree.
Police registered the case.
