Vinicius Junior may have just produced a front-runner for Goal of the Tournament at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Brazilian star lit up the New York New Jersey stadium with a sensational equalizer against Morocco, sending not only Brazilian fans into a frenzy but also American rapper Travis Scott into a frenzy in the stands.

Brazil found themselves bottom of their Group C opener after Morocco struck first in the 21st minute. But the five-time world champions responded in style as Vinicius produced a moment of individual brilliance in the 32nd minute to restore parity and inject life into Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The goal quickly went viral across social media and was hailed by fans as one of the highlights of the tournament so far. Cameras also caught Travis Scott celebrating wildly from the stands as the Real Madrid winger drove away in celebration after finding the back of the net.

The strike added another chapter to Vinicio’s rising story in Brazilian colours. In his 50th international appearance for the Selecao, the 25-year-old scored his 10th goal for the national team and his second in FIFA World Cup history.

Interestingly, his first World Cup goal also came in Brazil’s opening scoring sequence during the Round of 16 match against South Korea at the 2022 tournament in Qatar. Once again, when Brazil needed inspiration, Vinicius provided it.

BRAZIL VS MOROCCO: HOW IT HAPPENED

The competition got off to a lively start as Morocco showed exactly why they were one of the surprise packages of the previous World Cup. The Atlas Lions looked confident from the opening whistle and stunned Brazil when they took the lead in the 21st minute.

For a brief moment, Carlo Ancelotti’s first World Cup match as Brazil coach threatened to be an unpleasant evening. Morocco remained compact, disciplined and dangerous on the counter-attack, frustrating the South Americans whenever they entered the final third.

Then came a moment everyone in the stadium will remember.

Vinicius won the ball in a crowded attacking area and created plenty of space for himself before unleashing a spectacular finish that left the Moroccan defense helpless and the crowd on their feet. The strike immediately changed the momentum of the match and gave Brazil a lifeline heading into the rest of the match.
