Over 10,000 motorists were booked by the transport police in Hyderabad for the wrong side during a special weekly ride aimed at limiting one of the most dangerous transport disturbances of the city.
Between 1 and 7 October 2025, officials registered up to 10,652 cases against those who were imprisoned on the wrong side of the road, a crime that not only causes traffic jams, but also poses a serious risk for others commuting. Infisters were fined pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
“The poor ride has become a common and dangerous practice in Hyderabad. Not only does it cause traffic jams, but also represents a serious threat to the safety of infringers and other road users,” said Commissioner Hyderabad (Operation) D. Joel Davis.
The police also encouraged vigilant citizens to report such violations through official social media handles or through the transport line (9010203626) and E-Helpdesk (8712661690).
