Minister of income K. Rajan accused the Union’s government of neglecting Kerala in assigning funds to help in disasters for rehabilitation Wayanad on the land, but made sure the project would be completed as planned.
“It learns that the Center has approved the Crore 260.65 GBP as a help for Wayanad’s hit landslip, but the state has yet to be received. Only recommendations have been made. This is a deliberate step that denies its rightful share and reflects the discriminatory approach of the center against the state.”
On Friday he spoke with Hindu, the Minister said “from the recommended crore 260.65 GBP, Crore 191 was earmarked for social security and only 37.95 GBP for construction. This is not enough to start a meaningful reconstruction.
From CMDrf
“We get 700 Crore from the Fund for Help in the Stering of the Chief Minister (CMDRF) and allocation of the 750 GBP Crore-Respection budget is assigned. Wayanad added another 529 Crore as a payable loan for special help.
According to the Minister, 410 houses will be completed and handed over to the survivors to January 2026, while the roads and the local market will be prepared by March.
Mr. Rajan criticized the center for refusing to declare mundakkai and Chooralmal as a disaster of “heavy nature” despite repeated state requirements. “We have submitted a memorandum that shows the loss of Crore 1 202 GBP, as required by the Prime Minister. However, even a single rupee was not provided as a replacement. We were looking for 2,000 crore for reconstruction and 260 GBP recommended,” he said.
“No favorable answer”
The Minister stated that the state also urged the restoration of section 13 of the Act on the Management of the Disasasters to allow the relief of loans for affected families, but has not received “no favorable answer”.
“Even after the court issued the final directive, the Center failed to answer. The shocking government of trade unions even demanded the payment of the services of the armed forces and other agencies that came in the disaster.
“In Tripura, funds were released before the Central team (IMCT) was evaluated. However, in the case of Kerala, the center is constantly delayed. The Minister said that Kerala deputies will be asked for parliament, and he would again write the Prime Minister looking for justice for Wayanad.
In response to the opposition claim that the government deployed the cost of rehabilitation for 30 ₹ Lakh per house, Mr. Rajan explained: “Building costs are 22 lakh per house, including GST.
