Bengaluru couple killed in road accident
A couple on their way to a wedding was killed after a moving truck hit their motorcycle in Yeshwantpur traffic police limits on Thursday (June 11) afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Shahabaz, 28, and Shabreen Taj, 25, residents of Chikkabasthi, Ullal. The couple had been married for five years and ran a supply store locally.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 12.45 pm when the couple was traveling to Mariyannapalya. The two-wheeler was coming from Hebbal Junction and allegedly took a left turn towards the ring road section to reach the outer ring road leading to Peenya Industrial Area.
At the same time, a cylinder truck was moving from Peenya towards the city and a galloping vehicle was also traveling on the same stretch. In the ensuing sequence of events, the gallop allegedly hit the bike and ran over the rider. Both victims suffered serious injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The bodies were taken for autopsy.
The Yeshwantpur traffic police have taken the driver into custody and are interrogating him. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
