
Mavalla police arrested three persons, including two government employees, for an alleged attempt to take seven residential land worth over 2 crore in Sai Nagar in Adilabad through double registration using counterfeit documents.
The arrests include N. Venkataraman, 59 years, and B. Sanjeev Kumar, 49, both government employees, and Ushka Malla Raghupathi, 43, former Sarpanch Mavala, all residents of Adilabad, said the police.
Another accused, identified as Duppalapudi Ashok, Subregistra, still escape.
The police said that the accused, in conjunction with Ashok, the then Subregistrar of Adilabad, managed to double the registration of seven land belonging to a person based in Maharashtra in 2024.
These three charges reportedly offered a bribe of 7 lakh per ashok to make a fraudulent land transaction, the police added.
The ground fraud came to the forefront after a complaint filed by the damaged landowner, Milind, during the program “Message of your SP”.
The subsequent investigation of the case led to the arrest of the three accused involved in the land fraud.
Police are looking for the fourth accused Ashok, who is free.
