On Friday (September 19, 2025), the TELANGANA High Court granted three weeks of time to the petitioners – who were looking for a direction that claimed that P. Venkatram Reddy was not eligible for MLC to present documents supporting their content.
The petitioners wanted HC to declare Reddy, who served as a collector of the district collector Medak before becoming MLC, MLC could not hold the Office as the Ministry of Personnel and the Training of the Ministry of the Union officially did not accept its entitlement to voluntary retirement. While the state government issued an order that adopted its “resignation”, the petitioners claimed that he had decided to voluntarily resign from the service, but did not fulfill compulsory procedures.
One of the procedures was to deliver a notice three months in advance to use voluntary retirement, but Reddy did not follow it, the petitioners said on the basis of an answer to the question raised through the Information Law Act. Avinash Desai, who appeared for the Indian Election Commission, claimed that the petitioners should question the GO released by the state government that accepted Reddy’s resignation if they wanted to attack his election. The thing was adjourned after three weeks for further hearing.
