The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will digitize all phases of its operations in the next 100 days, from land acquisition to allotment of industrial plots, MB Patil, minister for large and medium industries in Bengaluru, said on Wednesday (June 10).
The minister said that every detail related to land in existing and newly built industrial areas will be included in the Integrated Land Management System prepared by the e-governance department.
77 data fields
According to him, the digital platform would maintain 77 data fields for each industrial plot. The system would also provide instant access to information regarding land allocations, industrial activity, investment, job creation, compensation paid to farmers, court cases and so on.
Mr. Patil further said that the initiative will ensure transparency and ensure long-term retention of records and reduce reliance on middlemen.
He also noted that poor record-keeping in the past has led to cases of duplicate compensation payments for the same land. The new system is supposed to eliminate such discrepancies.
224 industrial areas
Karnataka currently has 224 industrial estates with plot records that are set to be scanned and digitized. Officials have been asked to complete scanning of allotment records in older industrial areas within one month. Once the digitization process is complete, the data would be shared with the e-governance department to help develop customized software for the KIADB.
The platform will be integrated with the Rural Development Department’s e-Swathu system, facilitating services such as issuing e-Khatas and streamlining related administrative processes.
