The 48 -year -old Rapido driver was arrested in Maurice Nagar from northern Delhi. The police took steps after a young student complained about inappropriate behavior while driving.
According to the police, the incident took place on 8 September in the morning. A 22 -year -old woman who recently moved from Bengalur (formerly Bangalore) to chase her postgraduate studies in Delhi, reserved the Rapido cabin to achieve her college, PTI reported.
The driver, identified as a Shankar quarry, asked the student to sit in the front seat. However, it preferred the rear seat. Soon he reportedly behaved in a worrying way, which made the student felt extremely unpleasant.
Despite her protests, he did not stop immediately. After a while he finally stopped the cabin. The student quickly performed and rushed to Kranti Chowk. She found police officers on duty.
However, the driver fled until the officers approached the vehicle. The driver was later traced through rapido records and arrested.
Police booking it according to parts of the Indian Criminal Code related to the harassment and outrage of the modesty of the woman.
According to the police, the young woman is safe and advice was organized. Rapido cooperates with investigators.
“Immediately after receiving the complaint, our safety and support teams activated emergency protocols, coordinated with the right to enforce and personally accompanied the accused driver at the police station to ensure rapid measures,” Rapido spokesman said.
“At every stage, we have actively informed the customer to maintain complete transparency and assurance,” the spokesman added.
