The Union Cabinet honored Modi as the longest-serving Prime Minister on a seven-point scale and praised him for “protecting India’s interests | Today’s News
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a seven-point resolution to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming the longest-serving consecutively elected Prime Minister.
“By establishing a record of 4,399 days of continuous service as an elected Prime Minister, he surpassed the previous record of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru who served for 4,398 continuous days from 1952 to 1964,” a cabinet press release said.
According to the release, the resolution said “this occasion is a symbol of India’s democratic consciousness, public trust and the power of public participation, reflecting the unprecedented support people have extended to a leader led by a ‘Nation First’ decision.”
The formal resolutions passed by the Union Cabinet stated as follows:
1. He extends his heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this historic achievement.
2. Expresses gratitude for the work done under his leadership for the welfare of the poor and the empowerment of marginalized groups.
3. Appreciates Hon’ble PM’s policies which enabled more than 25 million poor people in India to beat poverty under his leadership.
4. Expresses gratitude for his unparalleled dedication and tireless hard work in the service of the nation.
5. Appreciates his efforts towards inclusive growth and social justice.
6. Commends his leadership in enhancing national security and protecting India’s interests.
7. Expresses its full support to his visionary determination and leadership in building “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
The adopted resolution was concluded by wishing excellent health and long life to the Prime Minister.
“He strongly expresses absolute confidence that under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, India will continue to reach new heights as a self-reliant, secure, prosperous and glorious nation, strongly paving the way to become a developed nation by 2047,” the press release said.
While congratulating the Prime Minister and wishing him all the best, the resolution emphasizes that this achievement coincides with the NDA government completing 12 years under his leadership.
He also noted that Prime Minister Modi is nearing the historic mark of 25 years of continuous service as Prime Minister.
“Proud of a leadership characterized by sensitivity, restraint, purpose and decisiveness, the official text highlights that it is after six decades that the country has given the NDA government a mandate for a third consecutive term,” the press release said.
