Thrissur witnessed tense scenes on Saturday when the protest march pulled the District Committee for the Democratic Federation of Youth (Dyfi) to the Office of the Union Suresh Gopi, which became violent.
Rally, organized to emphasize alleged manipulations of voters in Lok Sabha elections in 2024 and protest against the “silence” of the Members on key issues, including attacks on CHHhattisgar and Odish and the frantic state of the national highway.
The tension spread when the protesters symbolically planted a robbery near the deputies’ office to mock “his apathy to his constituency”.
Predict trouble, a large contingent of Bharatiya Janata (BJP), gathered near the Member’s Office before the March. The police deployed a strong power in this area. Abrasions broke out when the protesters tried to break barricades located near the office. The police responded with water cannons, but Dyfi’s workers refused to retreat and initiate Dharna.
