Praveen Chakravarty sought VCK support before filing Rajya Sabha nomination: Thirumavalavan

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Founder-President of Thol. Thirumavalavan said on Friday (June 5, 2026) that Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Praveen Chakravarty had sought the support of the VCK before filing his nomination.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Thirumavalavan said that Mr. Chakravarty had informed him that he would file the nomination and that former MLA SS Balaji had been asked to participate on behalf of the VCK. Asked about the name coined for the post-poll alliance led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Mr Chakravarthy’s post, Mr Thirumavalavan said: “I don’t know about that. TVK may be thinking of talking to us about it.”
On Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai’s “shouting” allegedly by some DMK cadres, Mr. Thirumavalavan said, “The DMK alliance held together for 10 years. After the results, there were urgent post-poll alliances. Obviously, the DMK cadre could not accept that.”
