Maoist arrested in Jharkhand’s Latehar

“A 32-year-old member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) (CPI (Maoist)) was arrested in Latehar district of Jharkhand,” police said on Saturday (6 June 2026).

“Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided his village Bajrimari-Belgarha under Chandwa police station limits and arrested him on Thursday (June 4, 2026),” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Latehar Kumar Gaurav.

“We have arrested Mukesh Ganjhu, a close associate of Maoist Ravindra Ganjhu, a member of the regional committee of the banned CPI (Maoist). Nine criminal cases are pending against him at various police stations in Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla and other districts,” he said.

“The arrested red rebel was accused of involvement in arson near Kathpuliya in Chandwa police station area in 2022 and at Lapra Bridge in 2023,” the SP said.

“He was also wanted in the 2023 murder of Pradyumna Yadav, a member of ‘Van Raksha Samiti’ in Jamuari village,” said Mr. Gaurav.
