In response to JD floor leader (s) Suresh Babu, the Minister of 405 children in 2022-23, 709 in 2023-24 and 685 children in 2024-25, was married and that children’s marriage was the main reason for the growing number of minors in the state.

She said that social customs practiced in some communities and tribal societies were an important factor in the continuing practice of children’s marriage.
Child Protection Committees (CWCS) operated in each district under the jurisdiction of the Ministry and in the city of Bengalur there were four such committees. Mrs. Hebalkar said that watch committees need to be created from the gram level of the Panchayat to the district level to ensure the safety of children. Based on the “Akka PADE”, consisting of women’s police officers and cadets created in the Bidar district, the Ministry decided to create the same in Mysur, Belagavi and Mangalur by providing vehicles and other facilities for the safety of schools and universities and women. “Akka Pade” became a successful model in the district of Bidar, the minister said.
However, Mr. Babu provided his own data and claimed that 26,000 minors were recorded in the state. The number of pregnancies of minors was the highest in Belagavi (2 622), followed by Bagakot (897), Ballari (850) and Koppal (617).
