Many parts of the town of Kochi continued to rush under the lack of drinking water, which has led to extensive protests against Keraral Water Authority (KWA), as the offer has been normalized for annual maintenance work since the closure of August 7.
While weaning was supposed to be a one -day matter, it took more than one and a half days after a large leak in Kalamasssery in the afternoon 6 August. This meant that the power lines were completely dried up and disrupted water supply through several pockets in the city.
“It usually takes a week to 10 days to be fully renewed in the delivery after the annual maintenance work is shut down. Normal water supply to the area towards the delivery network in the city will be restored after strengthening the third line.
East Division Kochi Corporation in Ponnununni East faced water supply problems before the annual shutdown. “Though OUR Problem Predates the Shutdown, We Have Agreed to Wait for the Third Pumping Day for the Situation to Improve. The Third Pumping Day Falls on Tuesday Night and Will Last for the Next 24 Hours The Office of the Kwa Superintending Engineer Till Oour Problems Are Resolved, ”Said Dipin Dileep, Councillor, Ponnurunni East Division.
He added that the water barely reached households even at a slightly increased point, while the distribution of water in the tankers along the narrow streets was not even practical. Stopgap solution to increase air valves by pumping water at high pressure was removed because this included a double billing for consumers.
“The problem is the lack of maintaining reasonable pressure when drawing from the house pump Thammanam. Although it requires a pressure of 3.8 to reach the entire supply network, it is at best maintained at 3 to 3.4, which is insufficient and affects the delivery towards the tail,” said Mr. Dileep.
