Taking a major step to improve digital convenience for pilgrims, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is considering installing kiosk machines and QR codes to facilitate UPI payments in all its 60 temples spread across various states in the country.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by TTD Executive Director Anil Kumar Singhal at the TTD administrative building in Tirupati on Monday.
Telling the officials to ensure a smooth implementation, he said the initiative will enable devotees to bid and pay in a seamless manner in accordance with modern digital practices. He also directed them to collect structured feedback from devotees on the services of TTD at Tiruchanoor and Tirupati Govindaraja Swamy temples.
Mr. Singhal asked the Chief Engineer to prepare two to three standardized templates for the proposed construction of 5,000 temples in backward areas to expedite implementation and maintain uniformity. He emphasized financial discipline and ordered that payments to suppliers not be delayed.
After reviewing the progress on the proposed temples at Belgavi in Karnataka and the allotment of land for the construction of the Lord Venkateswara temple by the Bihar government in Patna, he directed senior officials to also carry out inspections at the Bandra temple level in Mumbai.
Regarding publications, he ordered the establishment of an expert committee to review the distribution of previously printed spiritual books and directed the reprinting of titles in high demand based on reader preferences.
