Bengaluru fresher, frustrated with ‘9-to-9’ work routine, quits earning ₹60,000: ‘Come home, eat, sleep and repeat’ | Today’s news
A young woman from Bengaluru has garnered widespread attention online after she revealed that she voluntarily quit her salaried marketing job ₹60,000 per month, despite not having another role lined up.
Diksha, who secured the position through an on-campus placement, said she appreciated the opportunities the job afforded her, but eventually realized the lifestyle it required was not something she wanted for herself long-term.
Diksha documented her experience on an Instagram reel and revealed what made her quit her job.
‘Come home, eat, sleep and repeat’
“I quit. So at 22 I was making 60k a month as a fresher marketing job. It was my college internship and the main reason why Bangalore shift hone ka. No doubt about it, it was a fun job. I met amazing people, learned a lot and will always be grateful. I didn’t want to quit, but I also didn’t want a 9-to-5.’ karo – sorry 9-9-9 kaam karo, ghar aa ke khao so jao and then wait for karo weekend ka to really enjoy my own life.”
(I resigned. I was earning ₹60,000 per month at the age of 22 as a fresher in a marketing role. It was the job I got through campus placements and the main reason I moved to Bengaluru. There is no doubt that it was a great job. I met amazing people, learned a lot and will always be grateful for the experience. I really didn’t want to quit, but at the same time, I didn’t want to live in the same routine all the time. Work 9 to 5 – actually more like 9 to 9 – come home, eat, sleep and repeat. Then spend the whole week waiting for the weekend to enjoy my own life.)
She went on to reveal that she chose action over endless deliberation, even though she had no clear plan for what would come next.
“Apne dimaag ka dahi karne se accha hai unke dimaag ka dahi kar do, aur kisi random tuesday ko resign kar do. I don’t have any backup plans. I don’t know what I want to do with my life. I just know that I don’t want to spend my whole life trapped in one place. I know it’s risky as it goes, but no risk, chala to?
