Director of Agriculture Manazir Jeelani Samoon said in a press release that the tally of crop damage caused by Cyclone Montha has reached its final stage. It has been completed on 1,24,416 hectares, which is 90% of the primary estimate.
The census process is almost over and social audits will start soon in 19 districts. The impact of the cyclone was severe in Konaseema, Kakinada, Krishna and East and West Godavari districts.
Mr. Samoon said he directed all district agriculture officials to conduct social audit immediately after the enumeration process, resolve all grievances within the stipulated time as directed in a transparent manner and with full accountability and then issue the final approved lists with the approval of the grama sabhas.
He further said that the officials concerned have been directed to ensure that every farmer who has suffered crop damage is included in the enumeration list and to re-verify the lists immediately through super-inspection with senior officials after the social audit.
