Up to 37 students of the Government Secondary School in Jambaji near Kallakurichi were reportedly ill after consumption of noon meals served on Monday (September 8, 2025). According to official sources, a lizard was found in the meal.
Food prepared for 89 children was served around noon and several children complained about nausea and vomiting after consumption. They were transported to the primary health center Manalurpettai and to the government hospital Tiruvannamalai and were held under observation.
Their condition is now stable and released, the official said.
