The state-level Lok Adalat conducted in all courts in the state by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) on March 14 reported that more than 55.85 lakh cases were disposed of in a single day.
The Lok Adalat heard 2.61 million cases that were pending before various courts and 53.23 million pre-trial cases.
The total settlement amount achieved through amicable dispute resolution is ₹ 3,248 crore, with significant contributions from settlement of check dishonor cases, road accident claims and enforcement matters. Notably, more than ₹1,029 crore was settled in check bounce cases alone.
2,626 cases pending for more than five years, including an 18-year-old dispute with a 93-year-old litigant, were also settled amicably in the Lok Adalat. 3,330 cases involving senior citizens were also resolved.
