142 arrested for drunken driving in Vijayawada; 17 imprisoned

The traffic police of the NTR Authority registered cases of 142 persons for driving vehicles while intoxicated. The accused were produced before the court, which sentenced 17 people to two days’ imprisonment, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Transport Shareen Begum said in a statement. The court also imposed a fine of ₹12.95 crore on the remaining accused, the DCP added.
