Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reiterated that singer Zubeen Garg was “murdered” and said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing his death would submit its report to the court by December 8.
“Today I am not saying that the death of Zubeen Garg is an accident, it is murder. We will have to file the charge sheet in the Zubeen Garg murder case by December 17. I have set a target to file the charge sheet by December 8. We are ready,” he said.
Earlier on Sunday, the CM also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure that the Home Ministry gives immediate permission to file a FIR as the incident took place in a foreign country.
The approval will be given in the next three to four days, he said.
“If there is any incident in a foreign country, the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs is required before filing a charge sheet. I met Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday so that we can get the approval soon. I think in the next 3-4 days the SIT will write to the MHA, we will get the approval and file the charge sheet on December 7, 8 or 9,” Sarma told reporters.
