Indian food and grocery delivery platform Zomato said on Thursday that the company will rename the company to “Eternal” and released a new logo, a move that has been in use for more than two years internally.
The company said Eternal will form its four main businesses – food delivery vertical Zomato, fast business unit Blinkit, Live Events Business District and kitchen supplies unit Hyperpure.
“When things outside of Zomato become a major driver of our future, we thought of renaming the company publicly,” founder Deepinder Goyal said in a letter to shareholders.
“Today, with Blinkit, I feel like we’re here,” Goyal said.
The move marks a shift for the company, from investors’ skepticism about Zomato’s acquisition of Blinkit in mid-2022 to rapidly increasing investor interest with business-led growth.
Blinkit, along with Early Bird Swiggy’s Instamart, drives the transformation of Indian stores and forces retailers such as Reliance Industries’ Jiomart, Amazon and Walmart’s Indian operations to launch their own fast trading services.
