Zinedine Zidane to replace Deschamps as next France head coach: Social media reacts to news: ‘He can do it’ | Today’s news

Zinedine Zidane is set to become France’s next head coach. This marks a monumental development for the future of French football. Senior journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the French Football Federation (FFF) has made a firm decision regarding Zidane.

The legendary French footballer will replace long-time manager Didier Deschamps after his departure. This happened after France’s heartbreaking semi-final 0:2 against Spain.

Deschamps achieved considerable success during his historic 14-year tenure. This included winning the 2018 World Cup with France. He will officially retire after the tournament. Official documents are expected to be signed by the end of July, Romano said.

“Zinedine Zidane will be the next head coach of France, that has not been in doubt since November as a clear decision has been made. Zidane has already sorted his staff and the documents will be formally signed this month,” Romano wrote on social media.

“He will lead France to the League of Nations, Euro 2028 and the World Cup 2030,” he added.

For Zidane himself, this means a long-awaited return to football. He has failed to do so since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. Meanwhile, he is said to have turned down numerous offers from elite European clubs. He stood up especially for this dream representative role.

If he stays on as coach until the 2030 World Cup, it will give him a full four-year cycle to rebuild France. Zidane has apparently finalized his backroom coaching staff.

FFF is currently going through some administrative hurdles behind the scenes. The French authorities introduced a revised amount of €450,000 ( 4.95 crore) salary cap. That figure is well below Zidane’s typical market value, according to the Sunday Guardian.

The federation is said to be coordinating with the sports ministry. According to the publication, they are seeking a legal bypass to secure adequate compensation. Zidane inherited a talented roster built around Kylian Mbappe.

Reaction on social networks

Meanwhile, social media reacted to the news.

“Never doubting is the right thing to do. Zidane has been the obvious next coach of France for decades; the federation just needed the seat to open up. The only man alive who can enter the job with more aura than the job itself,” the user wrote.

“I believe he will deliver. France is in good hands,” another user wrote.

Another user commented: “Time for France to host UEFA Nations, Euros and World Cup in 2030 with Zinedine Zidane.”

“Finally. France wasted years with the Deschamps ball when Zidane was right there waiting. Players will run through walls for it. League of Nations, Euros, World Cup. This is a decade of real football, not just a flurry of results. Europe should be nervous. The artist is finally getting the canvas he deserves,” came another.
