Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has taken up his first formal coaching role after being appointed assistant and batting coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The 44-year-old, who played a key role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs, will make his debut as an IPL coach with the franchise. He has guided several established and emerging cricketers in recent years.

Speaking about his new role, Yuvraj said, “I am excited to start a new chapter in my life with Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes it a special opportunity for me.”

“I’m also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I’m really passionate about and I can’t wait to get started with this extremely talented team. I’m sure it will be an exciting journey for me and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success,” he added.

Yuvraj has also been involved in the development of several other players and offers advice on batting technique, temperament and the demands of top-level cricket. His relationship with Abhishek was particularly notablewith the left-hander establishing himself as one of India’s most explosive T20 batsmen.

His experience of winning the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup will be a valuable addition to the Delhi Capitals coaching set-up. Having mentored several young Indian stars over the years, Yuvraj now takes on his first formal coaching role as the franchise looks to end its wait for a maiden IPL title.
