India’s two-time World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh has apologized to the country’s only two ODI World Cup-winning captains, Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, for his father Yograj Singh’s repeated remarks over the years. “I would like to apologize to Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni,” Yuvraj said in a teaser released by Sports Tak.
Yograj Singh has targeted Dhoni for years, blaming him for dropping Yuvraj from the Indian team. His comments followed a familiar pattern and reappear in various guises. However, Yuvraj has largely avoided such controversies and has refrained from publicly reacting to his father’s statements. In the same trailer, he addressed the issue by saying, “I told my dad it wasn’t right,” suggesting he was concerned about the nature of the comments.

Expected to release soon, the episode will be one of Yuvraj’s first in-depth podcasts in a long time. The two-minute trailer shows him talking about a range of cricketing topics, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Rishabh Pant and teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
While Yograj’s criticism of Dhoni has been well documented, he also highlighted the explosive allegations against Kapil Dev last year. Yograj claimed that Kapil threatened him and accused the former Indian captain of sabotaging his career in the early 1980s. He also said that he once went to Kapil’s house with a gun to confront him. Kapil chose not to directly address the claims, responding with a brief remark at the time, but the allegations sparked widespread debate.
Yograj has also long lamented his omission in the Indian team during the Kapil era. Recalling the incident more than four decades ago has again drawn attention to his strained relationship with former teammates.
However, his attitude towards Dhoni has taken a different turn in recent months. Yograj recently said that he admires Dhoni and wants him to continue playing as long as possible. The move came after former chief selector Sandeep Patil clarified that Yuvraj’s omission from the Indian side was not at Dhoni’s insistence, but the decision of selectors who felt he no longer offered the same impact that once made him indispensable.
In fact, Yuvraj had earlier revealed that Dhoni was the one who gave him clarity about his role during his comeback in 2017. The former India captain informed him that the team management was not looking at him as part of their future plans. The interview helped Yuvraj come to terms with his situation and played a role in his decision to retire from international cricket in 2019.
