Tension gripped Hindupur in Sri Sathya Sai district on Saturday (November 15, 2025) after a clash broke out between Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) cadres over alleged provocative remarks by a local YSRCP leader against Hindupur MLA and actor Nandamuri Balakris Balakris.
Venu Gopal Reddy, husband of YSRCP Hindupur TN in-charge Deepika Venu Reddy, delivered a provocative speech on Friday evening (November 14), claiming that the people of Hindupur “have been living miserably as slaves for the last 40 years under someone sitting in Hyderabad”, while taking a veiled dig at Balakrishna. The YSRCP leader urged the public to “forgive” and elect his wife Deepika to show what “real development” means.

Soon after Mr Reddy’s remarks went viral, TDP cadre and Balakrishna supporters barged into the YSRCP office on Saturday evening, looting furniture, breaking glass panels and party-related property and smashing a bust of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
TN Deepika Venu Reddy immediately rushed to the party office and led a protest march to the city police station demanding prosecution of the perpetrators, terming the attack on the party office as a “deliberate attack”.
Additional police forces from Hindupur, Penukonda, Puttaparthi and Dharmavaram sub-divisions have been deployed at all vulnerable junctions to prevent further clashes. A curfew-like situation gripped the city and nearby merchants closed their shutters.
A senior police officer said CCTV footage from the vandalized office and nearby intersections would be verified. Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar warned both sides to desist from resorting to provocative statements against each other.
Jagan condemns the attack
YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took to social media platform ‘X’ to condemn the attack on the party office and blamed TDP supporters and Balakrishna. Calling it a dangerous attack on democracy, Mr. Jagan alleged that Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership has resorted to encouraging mob culture. He lambasted the inaction of the police and accused the TDP leadership of intimidating political opponents.
