TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao termed the YSRCP’s demand for President’s rule in Andhra Pradesh as a politically motivated ploy to divert public attention from pressing issues.
The YSRCP’s alleged attempts to incite violence at the local level by claiming its leaders were victims of the alleged breakdown of law and order exposed its double standards, Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed while addressing the media on Sunday.
The TDP leader urged people to see through the YSRCP conspiracy and said that the opposition party has a habit of fomenting issues to reap political dividends.
He asserted that attempts to escalate tensions for political gain and shift blame to the government would not be tolerated.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the government was taking all steps to ensure that the local body elections were conducted in a democratic, free and impartial manner. He warned that those who lose the election process will face legal consequences.
He asserted that protecting democratic values and ensuring free and fair elections were at the top of the government’s agenda and urged people to be vigilant against the machinations of the YSRCP.
“The Politics of Violence”
Meanwhile, Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar objected to YSRCP’s policy of violence and said YSRCP leaders were behaving like rioters on the streets while its president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy preached democratic values.
He regretted that while violent clashes broke out in only five places in the state during nominations for the local public polls, the YSRCP was giving a wrong picture that it was a nationwide situation that required the imposition of President’s rule.
Meanwhile, TDP leaders P. Ashok Babu and Varla Ramaiah appealed to the State Election Commissioner to take action against Darsi MLA B. Siva Prasad Reddy and Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy for allegedly creating trouble in filing nominations.
