Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Political Bureau member Nakka Ananda Babu has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of hatching a conspiracy around the capital Amaravati to stop its development once again.
While 99.50% of the farmers voluntarily gave their land for the construction of the capital city, the remaining 0.50% were dissatisfied with some things.
He said, “It was this small section of disgruntled Amaravati farmers who were provoked by the YSRCP to somehow stop the development of the capital, especially by solving the road connectivity issues, he claimed.
Addressing the media at the TDP headquarters near Mangalagiri on Sunday (July 12, 2026), Mr. Ananda Babu said that YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was using these farmers as pawns in his political game and that some of them extended their cooperation under the Land Pooling Scheme after realizing that the former Chief Minister was scheming behind their backs.
Between 2014 and 2019, YSRCP made false allegations and filed several complaints to suppress the development of Amaravati in its nascent stage, but after coming to power, it destroyed Amaravati by enacting the three-capital drama, he said.
The YSRCP continued its campaign against Amaravati even after the coalition government gave it legal sanctity by getting the AP Reorganization Act 2014 amended by Parliament, Mr. Ananda Babu added.
