YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on TTD chairman BR Naidu, alleging that the sanctity and reputation of the institution was seriously damaged under his leadership.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP headquarters in Tadepalli, the former TTD chairman accused Naidu of supporting “unruly elements” and allowing inappropriate activities in the sacred premises of Tirumala. He alleged that instead of maintaining spiritual decency, the environment of the temple is disturbed by anti-social activities which hurt the sentiments of the devotees.
Mr. Reddy further alleged that the women who protested the alleged misconduct were assaulted by persons associated with Naidu. He described the incidents as “deeply disturbing” and claimed that cases were falsely filed against the victims. He also raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the allocation of darshan tickets and alleged that influential groups were abusing the system for financial gain through black marketing.
Questioning the role of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Reddy criticized the state government for its “inaction” and accused it of shielding those responsible. He demanded that BR Naidu take moral responsibility and resign immediately, failing which the government should remove him from office.
Mr. Reddy stated that the YSRCP will continue to support public protests until justice is served and the dignity of TTD is restored.
